The Ministry of Finance has ordered that as of today, the import of medical devices to the European Union will be restricted

According to a notice on the official website of the Ministry of Finance on July 6th, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, with approval, the Ministry of Finance has decided to take relevant measures for some medical devices imported from the European Union in government procurement activities.

The relevant matters are notified as follows
一、When the purchaser purchases medical devices with a budget amount of over 45 million yuan (the specific list of items is attached), if it is indeed necessary to purchase imported products, after going through the legal procedures, the participation of EU enterprises (excluding European-funded enterprises in China) should be excluded. For non-EU enterprises participating in the project, the proportion of medical devices imported from the EU they provide shall not exceed 50% of the total contract amount of the project. The above measures do not apply to procurement projects where medical devices imported solely from the European Union can meet the procurement requirements.
二、This notice shall come into effect as of July 6, 2025. For procurement projects involving the above measures that have already released the announcement of the winning bid or transaction results before the implementation date, the government procurement contract may continue to be signed and the measures stipulated in this notice shall not be implemented.
