In the county-level medical market, the procurement of digital X-ray photography systems (DR) has gone crazy!
Orders for hundreds of units are frequently placed, and among them, a domestic enterprise - Wandong Medical - has emerged as the most outstanding "King of county-level DR".

Recently, Jiangsu Province announced the winning results of the 2024 county-level medical community equipment update project. The project has a budget of up to 56.9 million yuan and is divided into two packages for bidding. Ultimately, Wandong Medical and United Imaging Medical won the bids for 31 and 18 DR Devices respectively. This result not only marks Wandong's strong performance in the county-level market, but also indicates that the domestic DR Market is undergoing a new round of reshuffling.
So, why can Wandong stand out among so many competitors?

In the first half of 2025, the domestic DR Equipment procurement market size increased by more than 110% year-on-year, and the increment was almost all concentrated in county-level medical communities.
In Quan Shu's view, the county-level market has become the most important growth pole for DR Equipment.
Why a county? Primary healthcare is catching up.
The answer is quite simple: Compared with developed countries, the popularity of DR In our country is still far behind.
In 2019, the number of DR Units per million people in China was approximately 43.5. During the same period, the number in the United States was 172 units - almost four times that of ours.

This huge gap represents a huge market. In 2017, the average number of DR Units in each hospital across the country was less than two. Many grassroots hospitals either have no DR Or their equipment is already outdated and needs to be updated.

Just talking about the figures might not catch everyone's attention. Let's take a look at a few major projects that have truly been implemented this year. Let's feel the "bloody" level of this scene:
Xinjiang centralized procurement of 267 DR Sets, with a total budget of 92.32 million yuan. Wan Dong alone won all the orders, with a winning bid amount of 52.365 million yuan.
In the centralized procurement of 213 DR Units in Henan Province, with a total budget of 170 million yuan, Wan Dong won 133 units, amounting to 49.77 million yuan, and is the absolute main force.
Chongqing centralized Procurement of Anjian Technology secured 140 pieces of equipment, with a total value of 35.86 million yuan.
Ningxia centralized procurement of 76 DR Sets, all of which were purchased by Lanying Medical, with a winning bid amount of 14.86 million yuan.
Hunan Province conducted a centralized procurement of 187 DR Units, with Lanying and Wandong sharing them up, securing 94 and 93 units respectively.

Can you see it? All are domestic manufacturers. The pressure of price reduction brought about by centralized procurement precisely aligns with the high cost-performance advantage of domestic equipment. Foreign brands have almost fallen silent in this round of county-level competition.
Why do domestic DR Companies win? Technology is no longer "Wu Xia Amon".
Many people may still be stuck in the old notion that "domestic equipment is just cheap and technologically backward". Uncle Quan must say that times have changed. For instance, the full-frame DR That Wandong is promoting this time can be regarded as a "black technology".

It is equipped with a super-long flat panel detector measuring 120cm by 43cm, which can complete the imaging of the entire spine or the entire lower limb with a single exposure. Previously, taking such films required taking them in sections three or four times and then splicing them together. Now, it can be done in one go. The radiation dose for patients has been reduced by 50%, and the workload for doctors has also been significantly decreased.

It also integrates AI technology, such as the "Huiyan" visual navigation system, which can simplify nearly 70% of the positioning process, and even interns can quickly get the hang of it.
In addition, to address diverse scenarios, domestic manufacturers have also launched in-vehicle DR Solutions, directly driving to communities, schools, and remote areas for screening. The cumulative service has exceeded one million people. This kind of flexibility and down-to-earth innovation is something that many foreign brands cannot achieve.
The market is booming, but making money is not easy.
Although the market is booming and sales are rising steadily, Quan Shu also wants to pour some cold water on everyone - manufacturers are actually "increasing revenue but not profit".

Wandong's financial report for the first half of the year shows that its revenue increased by 20.46%, but its net profit declined by 39.46%. The reason is quite simple: the price reduction in centralized procurement is too severe, and at the same time, the investment in research and development has increased by 59.16% year-on-year.
This actually reflects the current situation of the entire industry: the market pie has grown larger, but the competition has also become more fierce. To survive and live well, one must rely on both technological upgrading and cost control.
In summary, the explosive growth of the county-level DR Market is the result of a combination of three factors: policy promotion, grassroots efforts to make up for deficiencies, and breakthroughs in domestic technology. Domestic equipment has successfully seized this historic opportunity by virtue of its better understanding of the Chinese market, faster response speed and higher cost performance.
In the future, as the market gradually becomes saturated, competition will definitely shift from "competing on price" to "competing on technology, service and ecosystem". But for the vast number of county-level hospitals, being able to purchase better equipment at a lower cost is definitely a great thing.
